From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, wants retribution.
- Kattigan knows the region and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as important members in the powerful family could help the party enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This means them no alternative but to head to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Planners tables.
Audiences can expect finding out which players will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
